About CPRITM
History
Texas-based Circular Polymer Resources, Incorporated (CPRI) was formed in August 2022 to accelerate the circular economy by recovering, processing and distributing the highest-quality waste plastic feedstock to pyrolysis plants primarily along the Gulf Coast in Texas and Louisiana. The combined management team experience of CPRI™ and its founder, Tex-Mex Recycling, totals more than 100 years in petroleum refining, petrochemicals, waste acquisition and processing, advanced chemical recycling and mechanical recycling.
The Advanced Recycling Market
The advanced recycling market is growing exponentially, and most major chemical companies have announced plans to incorporate 1-3 million metric tonnes/year of recycled plastics into their product streams by 2030.
The vast majority of this recycled material will be produced by a process known as pyrolysis, which thermally converts the initial waste plastic into pyrolysis oil – pyoil – which is then blended into existing chemical and refinery units for subsequent processing and cleanup. Gas by-products are typically used for process heat. Secondary conversion of pyoil in steam crackers or fluid catalytic cracking units produces molecules such as ethylene and propylene, which are the building blocks of the chemical industry used to form polyethylene and polypropylene, thus completing the circle.
The supply of adequate amounts of waste plastic feedstock with minimal contamination is critical to the successful economic chemical recycling of plastic waste, and it is CPRI’s charter to provide the highest-quality feedstock possible to these pyrolysis plants. In addition, we source and sell high-quality polypropylene and engineering thermoplastics to the mechanical recycling markets.
